Yuliya Krasylenko, a Ukrainian biologist, relocated to Olomouc after fleeing Crimea and later the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Supported by Univerzita Palackého’s Faculty of Science, she resumed her research on parasitic plants and teaches courses in plant cytoskeletons, systems biology, and tissue culture. Beyond academia, she co-founded the volunteer organization Ščedryk, providing educational, cultural, and integration activities for Ukrainian children and adults. The initiative operates with minimal budget and support from local partners, emphasizing community solidarity and integration.
