Austria | Researchers at the Medical University of Vienna in Austria have uncovered a new biological mechanism that plays a key role in heart attack damage. The study shows that extracellular vesicles released from stressed cells can trigger harmful immune responses by inducing neutrophil extracellular traps, which contribute to blood clot formation and tissue injury. Scientists also found that naturally occurring IgM antibodies can reduce this harmful process and are linked to better heart function after a heart attack. The findings provide important insight into immune regulation in cardiovascular disease and suggest new treatment strategies to improve patient outcomes. Austria
