
Slovenia | The University of Primorska took part in the 6th Presidential Forum on Artificial Intelligence held at Brdo pri Kranju on 7 May 2026, which focused on the theme “Artificial Intelligence: Between Progress, Responsibility and New Literacy.”The forum brought together experts from academia, regulatory bodies, and international institutions to discuss ethical and social challenges posed by artificial intelligence, especially the balance between innovation, regulation, and human responsibility.Representing the University of Primorska, Dr Ernest Ženko from the Faculty of Humanities and the university’s Centre for Artificial Intelligence participated in a panel discussion on how AI intersects with human decision-making, freedom, and ethical safeguards. The panel examined how algorithms increasingly interact with human society and what frameworks are needed to ensure responsible development.During the event, Slovenia’s President also awarded the Golden Order for Services to Dr Ivan Bratko, recognizing his pioneering contributions to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and logic programming, as well as his influence on Slovenia’s international scientific reputation.The forum highlighted growing national attention on AI governance and the importance of developing ethical standards alongside technological progress.
