
Ireland | Atlantic Technological University has announced a major national research partnership with the Western Development Commission to explore how remote and hybrid work is transforming Ireland’s economy, communities, and quality of life.The two year project titled Connected Futures The Economics of Remote and Hybrid Work in Ireland and its Impacts on Wellbeing Mobility and the Local Economy will study key areas such as regional development digital infrastructure commuting patterns local economies and wellbeing. It aims to provide strong evidence to support future government policy and regional planning.The research brings together ATU expertise in regional development and public policy with the WDCs long standing leadership in remote work research and its Connected Hubs programme. The project will also produce national datasets policy briefings and academic publications to guide decision makers.Leaders from both institutions highlighted that remote and hybrid work are now permanent features of modern working life and that the partnership will help ensure their benefits are shared across all regions of Ireland.
