Belgium | Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium has re elected Jan Danckaert as rector for another four year term after he secured 79.30 percent of the weighted votes in the 2026 rector election. The university community expressed broad support for his leadership despite him being the only candidate in the election. Danckaert stated that the next four years will focus on innovation future opportunities and strengthening the universitys role as a pioneering institution in Europe.
