Lund University has announced a new initiative to recruit 14 leading international researchers as part of its Programme for Global Excellence. The initiative aims to strengthen the university’s global research profile across multiple disciplines, including sustainability.The recruitment drive builds on a record-breaking 2025 intake of international researchers and reflects Lund University’s continued focus on academic excellence, international collaboration, and sustainable development.The positions are spread across eight faculties, including engineering, medicine, science, law, and social sciences. A significant portion of the roles is linked to sustainability research, aligning with the university’s strong global ranking in sustainability-focused assessments.As part of the programme, Lund University will also establish the “Young Academy for Sustainability,” a new network designed to support early-career researchers working in sustainability-related fields. The initiative is funded through university-wide resources amounting to SEK 70 million.University leadership emphasized that the recruitment effort aims to strengthen interdisciplinary research and support long-term global challenges through scientific collaboration.
