Belgium | The University of Liege has announced that all first-year students enrolling in the Motor Science department must undergo a mandatory physical stress test before participating in practical physical education courses. This comprehensive medical evaluation includes an electrocardiogram at rest and under stress, spirometry, and ergospirometry to certify that students are in optimal physical health. The examinations are ideally scheduled during August ahead of the new academic year and can be taken at the university’s Institute of Physical Education and Physiotherapy at Sart-Tilman or any other authorized medical facility. To complete the evaluation, students must register online, obtain a formal referral from their physician, provide local health insurance vouchers or payment, and bring suitable indoor athletic attire. Access to practical laboratory coursework will be strictly denied if valid fitness certificates are not filed with the student secretariat prior to classes.
