
Hungary | The University of Pécs hosted a major international conference focusing on Africa’s growing role in the changing global order. The event marked the 10th anniversary of the African Studies Conference and brought together researchers and experts from across the world.Held at the Faculty of Humanities, the conference explored key geopolitical and economic developments shaping Africa’s position in the 21st century. Discussions highlighted themes such as South South cooperation, global power shifts, and the continent’s increasing influence on international affairs.During the opening session, Rector Attila Miseta emphasized the importance of academic dialogue in a rapidly changing and conflict driven world. He noted that universities play a vital role in maintaining cooperation and open communication across regions.The event also featured contributions from global figures, including Rwanda’s ambassador Margueritte Francoise Nyagahura, who highlighted Africa’s transformation through innovation, resilience, and education partnerships.A key highlight of the conference was the memorial lecture honoring Ian Taylor. Scholars examined shifting global dynamics, including China Africa relations and new development models shaping the future world order.With participants from 10 countries, the conference strengthened the university’s position as a regional hub for African studies and international research collaboration.
