
Poland | The University of Warsaw highlights key achievements of its “Inicjatywa Doskonałości – Uczelnia Badawcza” (IDUB) programme, which supports the development of academic staff and strengthens research excellence under the HR Excellence in Research strategy.Since 2020, the programme has provided funding for a wide range of scientific activities, including research microgrants, international mobility, mentoring visits, and infrastructure development. It is coordinated by the university’s Research Support Office.Major initiatives include the “Mentor Programme,” which brings leading international researchers to Warsaw to collaborate with local academics, and training programmes aimed at developing leadership and soft skills among researchers. Together, these initiatives have supported hundreds of mentoring visits and nearly 1,100 training places.The IDUB programme has also contributed to increased international collaboration, growth in European research grants, expansion of scientific publications in top journals, and the creation of several new research centres at the university. It has additionally supported thousands of microgrants, doctoral scholarships, and early-career researcher positions.
