Belgium | A new study by Vrije Universiteit Brussel has revealed that thousands of children in Belgium are negatively affected by having a parent in prison, while their rights remain largely overlooked in the justice system. Researchers found that children often face emotional stress social isolation and educational difficulties, yet support systems and child friendly policies vary greatly between prisons. The study calls for stronger integration of childrens rights into sentencing prison policies and family support measures across Belgium.
