
A science café event explored the topic of mathematical anxiety and its impact on learning and everyday decision-making. The event was organized as part of the Transform4Europe Alliance initiative to bring scientific discussions closer to the public.The main speaker, Krzysztof Cipora from Jagiellonian University, presented research on mathematical anxiety, describing it as feelings of tension, worry, or fear when dealing with numbers or mathematical tasks. He explained how these emotions can influence students’ academic performance and even their future career choices.The discussion also examined how common this phenomenon is and how it appears in daily life, from classroom situations to personal decision-making. Participants highlighted the importance of understanding mathematical anxiety and finding ways for educators and students to reduce negative attitudes toward mathematics.
