Denmark | Aalborg University has entered a strategic partnership with Save the Children Denmark (Red Barnet) named “Knowledge Against Abuse” (Viden Mod Overgreb) running from 2026 to 2029. The initiative responds to a significant rise in child sexual offense convictions in Denmark, which increased from 265 in 2015 to 377 in 2025 according to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Criminologists and legal researchers from the university will collaborate with child protection experts to evaluate existing prevention models, assess the current effectiveness of child certificate registries, and develop evidence-based risk assessment protocols for monitoring convicted individuals upon release.
