Denmark | Aalborg University and Aalborg Zoo are utilizing artificial intelligence to automate animal behavior tracking. This technology identifies early signs of stress, illness, and pregnancy.Students programmed an AI system using video surveillance to analyze an isolated male pygmy hippo. The data indicated insufficient physical activity. Zookeepers then introduced lavender, peppermint, and lemongrass essential oils to the enclosure. This olfactory enrichment successfully increased the animal’s movement and lowered stress. The university is also expanding this technology to agriculture and wildlife conservation. Autonomous drones track free-ranging cattle and wild herds in national parks. The AI analyzes movement patterns and instantly alerts farmers to health anomalies.
