
Ireland | Mary Immaculate College final year Bachelor of Education students have showcased their creative achievements through a series of Visual Arts exhibitions and live musical performances, marking the end of the academic year.The exhibitions featured work developed as part of the Visual Arts elective, where fourth-year students presented projects exploring art education, creativity, and interdisciplinary learning. Three main exhibition themes were highlighted, each guided by academic staff and focusing on different creative and educational perspectives.The exhibition Rooted in Data, led by Anne-Marie Morrin, explored the connection between Art, Design, and STEAM education. Another exhibition, Art Therapy: The Potential Space, led by Dr Sheila Richardson, focused on the therapeutic and reflective aspects of artistic practice. A third project, Hidden Stories / Visual Narratives, led by Dr Julie Brazil, reinterpreted works from the Hunt Museum collection using printmaking and curatorial methods, with selected student pieces also displayed at the museum.Across all exhibitions, students demonstrated strong skills in a variety of media including printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art. Their work explored themes such as identity, environment, storytelling, and education, reflecting both individual creativity and collaborative practice.The event also included live musical performances by third-year Music Education students under the direction of Professor Gwen Moore. These performances added a dynamic artistic dimension to the exhibition experience.Faculty members, including Anne-Marie Morrin and other Visual Arts staff, supported students throughout the process, guiding them in both artistic development and educational approaches.Dean of Education Professor Emer Ring praised the exhibitions, noting that they demonstrate how visual arts can enhance creativity, critical thinking, and wellbeing in education, while preparing students to bring innovative teaching methods into future classrooms.
