Students from several South Eastern European countries are raising concerns about the overall state of wellbeing in schools, highlighting gaps in mental health support, school environment, and teacher–student relationships. Their shared experiences point to increasing pressure in classrooms, where academic expectations often outweigh emotional and social support systems.
Many students report that while some schools are trying to improve wellbeing through awareness activities and support programs, these efforts are still inconsistent and not equally accessible. Issues such as stress, lack of counseling services, and teacher burnout are seen as major factors affecting both learning outcomes and daily school life.
Students also emphasize the importance of family involvement, supportive teachers, and a more positive school climate in shaping healthier learning environments. They believe that wellbeing should not be treated as an optional topic, but as a core part of education policy.
From their perspective, meaningful improvement will require stronger cooperation between schools, parents, and policymakers, along with practical steps to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and understood in their learning environment.
