
Finland | The Aalto University has received a three million euro donation from the Walter Ahlström Foundation to support sustainable industrial production research.The funding will be used to establish a new professorship at the Aalto University School of Engineering, focusing on energy and mechanical engineering with a strong emphasis on sustainability. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of environmentally friendly industrial solutions and support the global transition toward sustainable energy systems.According to foundation representatives, the donation reflects the urgent need to address environmental challenges and promote innovation in industrial transformation. University leadership highlighted that the new professorship will strengthen research capabilities and contribute to developing practical solutions for industry and society.The professorship will also be part of Aalto University’s House of Energy competence centre, which brings together research and teaching to advance the sustainable energy transition.
