Denmark | Three university lecturers have been officially celebrated at a biannual educational seminar following their receipt of a prestigious foundation prize for technical science educators. The award recognizes their collaborative development of an innovative undergraduate course that bridges biological theory and practical engineering solutions for early-stage university students. The course, titled “Design-Build in Life Science,” is offered to third-semester biotechnology and technical biomedicine students. Through hands-on experimentation, students are challenged to synthesize complex biological concepts into physical reality by designing and constructing functional devices to measure antibiotic resistance. The official ceremony highlighted the critical role of innovative teaching methods in modern engineering education. By encouraging undergraduate students to actively prototype solutions for real-world medical challenges, the course model shifts standard laboratory instruction toward an active, problem-solving dialogue that fosters critical technical and engineering competencies.
